Circe Morpheus Bicycle - The Christmas Fundraiser

Throughout the Christmas period last year Outspoken organised a big fundraising drive. The idea was to raise enough money to buy a Circe Morpheus bike to donate to You Can Bike Too - the all ability cycling group. These fantastic bikes allow people with different needs such as lowered mobility, visual limitations or balance issues to gain access to all the benefits that cycling can afford.

We offered up the chance to win an Outspoken Advent Caledndar (i.e. the chance to win choccies, cakes and cheese delivered daily throughout Advent) as a thank you to one lucky person who donated. Chocolates aside, our customers and friends responded with great enthusiasm and generosity. Just in time for Spring we added up all our donations and placed our order with Circe Cycles,  and we couldn't be happier with what we received.

With great pleasure we were able to hand over this wonderful machine to the team at You Can Bike Too last week. The wet and windy day didn't ruin our excitement and the bike was a hit all round.

So, thank you, thank you to everyone who donated - and thank you to all our partners who offered up tasty treats towards our advent calendar giveaway. Come and see the bike in action for the first time on the annual Ride to Reach, when it will be one of many bikes being ridden to the fair. The brand new bike will be used by one of our friendly Outspoken staff members and Angela from You Can Bike To (enjoying her first sit on the bike above!)

Foodcycle

Outspoken have recently teamed up with the fantastic local charity; Foodcycle Cambridge.

The food industry throws away and estimated 1.6 million tonnes of food, of which a quarter is thought to be still be fit for consumption. This is all while 4 million people in the UK are affected by food poverty. Foodcycle work’s to reclaim good, useable food to create nutritious meals for people in the community.

Outspoken Delivery work with Foodcycle to transport surplus food from local supermarkets, farm shops and cafes. The food, that would otherwise be wasted, is taken to a local kitchen where it is transformed by their team of volunteers into a free weekly feast.

To donate food, volunteer your time, find out more or if you simply want to go along and try one of their fantastic meals check out their website or Facebook page found below.
